IKEA AND YARD SALE BLUE MASON JARS

Hey y'all!

Wanted to share with you guys a yard sale find from this weekend..these gorgeous blue vintage mason jars I picked up for a buck a piece! Aren't they purdy? I am using one for pencils and the other for flowers.

It's almost time for another San Fransisco trip so I plan on stopping at Ikea this time for sure, sorry kiddos, sorry hubby, hehe we are gonna get lost again. Is it just me or is it so easy to get lost in Ikea? Maybe its just because I don't go there much, or I just get discombobulated. It's probably just me. Thinking about picking these guys up..

GOLDFINGERS AND NAILHEAD WEEKEND

Happy Friday Y'all!
This week again just flew by! Here is what I hope I will get done this weekend:

1. Bling out my living room chairs I posted about here.  Ya know so I can sit in my blinged out chair "throne" and have the kids and hubby wait on me and feed me grapes, while fanning me and stuff, it's ok to dream right? hehe, anyways back to reality, I ended up ordering the nail heads online, I am hoping they show in the mail today.

2. Getting my gold finger on, Ya Baby (if your wondering what the heck that means..Austin Powers says it best) I scored these awesome tables last year from World Market on our San Fransisco trip and have been taking my sweet time deciding if I wanna spray paint them gold. I think the color they are now is fine, but I cant leave well enough alone..yep that's me, miss gotta change everything. I think I just might have to do this weekend.

3. I am gonna be ordering some materials online hopefully today (if I can squeeze in some time) for a BIG project(think wall treatment) This one is gonna take me some time to complete, but its gonna be so much fun! I will give you a little hint..Two Clues for one word.. the first part of this words clue is..the name of the stuff you mow, a lot in the summer time.. and the second part of this words clue is the alternative to disposable diapers..put these two words together and there you have it. Can you guess it? Leave me a comment with your guesses I think this would be fun?? Right?

Thanks for stopping by, have a great weekend!

MY TOP 5 LOW LIGHT HOUSE PLANTS

As you have heard me talk about before, my home is low on natural light. One of the the biggest  things I don't like about living here. I love lots of light and since living here I will never take that for granted again, believe me..I have a dilemma, I really enjoy plants in my home, it just livens up the place ya know?  I had to do some research on low light plants and I came up with my top five. If anyone wants to have plants and has limited natural light like I do, these I have found out should do just fine. Some of these names are a little on the spooky side..hehe,I wonder who comes up with these names?

1.Snake Plant

(also known by the other  name of Mother-in-Law's Tongue)
These have long leaves that grow straight up and can reach 2 or 3 feet high! They are a desert plant, so don't over water. Let the soil dry out between waterings.

2.  Devils Ivy
Devil's Ivy (often also called Pothos) is a smaller climbing plant,  suited for hanging baskets or table-top pots. Its leaves are very green.  It will continue to grow in very long vines. You can let the vines hang free, or train the plant to grow upwards on a small trellis.

3. Chinese Evergreen
This is the most popular shady-spot plant because it is easy on the eyes and will grow easily for just about anyone. The leaves are large up to (1 ½ feet long). This plant to me looks like a tropical plant and can really take up some space.

4.  Peace Lily
Peace Lily's are  gorgeous and grow huge white flowers and have large, dark green leaves, this being different because most low light plants are only foliage.

5.  Spider Plant
Spider plants are one my favorites. They have gorgeous Green long leaves and they do great in a kitchen or bathroom mainly because these these two rooms have steam(from showering or cooking).

Hope this helps with choosing plants for low lighting, seeing pictures always helps me too!!   Have a great day!

HOME MADE PROJECTOR

Have you ever wanted to take an image from something and make it larger? I have, and tried many times in Illustrator to recreate things, but with no real knowledge I fail miserably every stinking time. So what is a girl to do? After beating my head against the wall for a few minutes..ha just kidding..I said I need a overhead projector, I am just buy one maybe on Craigslist , well no luck not a one  on Craigs, so how about a new one I thought, great idea? That was a great idea, not a reality..booo..I saw how much they cost and that idea went bye bye. Its not like I would be using this thing everyday or anything, I needed it for my tickle my fancy at the time project idea moments.  Ya know those moments of "oh that would be cool" wonder if I can do that moments.

With the projector out of my reach, and my hubby walking into the living room watching me in deep I gotta figure this out concentration mode..believe me it not a pretty site, he knew the look, he asked me what are you trying to do? I replied "oh I am trying to make this image bigger", "I have an idea for a wall treatment". He said "oh that's it, you looked like you were trying to find a cure for something"..referring to my deeply wrinkled up forehead, it happens to me in concentration mode..hehe.  My hubby then says, I used to make these boxes as a kid for shadow puppets this is easy. It magnifies images, I said, what show me!

This is how you do it, take a regular box, tape up the sides(the flaps that close the top of the box), cut a hole in the front around the same size as the object you want to project, cut one more hole in the back(this is where you will put the light). Super easy right? A box and light, who would have thunk it? (See the other hole in the back)? That's where you put the light bulb in.

So on to copying my image..I used paper protectors and layed it over what I wanted to copy (modern cottage collection clearance jar at target for $5 bucks, score!) taped it down and used a permanent marker and just followed the lines.

I took it over to the box and taped in the opening like so, then got a lamp took off the shade and put the light bulb in the back opening and wallah!! It totally worked!!

I taped a poster board to to the wall and traced my image! Homemade projector, woohoo, thanks babe for your help! I have a huge project I am hoping to tackle and this is the first step. I will keep you guys updated on my progress! Hope you all have a wonderful day!!

"PIMPING" OUT MY LIVING ROOM CHAIRS WITH NAILHEADS

Happy Friday Y'all! My weekend will hopefully be a productive one this week...fingers crossed.. I plan on "pimping" out my living room chairs with none other than....nail heads! I am so in love with anything that has nail heads applied. I think it adds a certain elegance and that extra "wow" detail.

I just started looking online for a large quantity of these guys at an affordable price. I have a couple leads, but need to make sure I get the best bang for my buck. I will be headed to the craft store too just to take a peek at what they have and their prices, but I am thinking that ordering them online would be the cheapest. That being said I might have to wait until next weekend to "pimp" out my chairs, I don't know we will see.

What do you guys think about nail heads? Do you think they are too "flashy" or elegant? You know what I think, I would love to do a poll on this, so don't be shy, let me know. I hope you all have a terrific weekend!!

MAMA NEEDS A NEW RUG

I am in desperate need of a new living room rug, kids, dogs and a messy hubby(sorry babe) sure can put some wear on a rug!! I purchased an indoor/outdoor rug thinking that it would be easy peasy to clean if something got on it, but I was wrong. The idea was good, but for little old me to try and carry a huge 9x11 rug outside to spray it off is a gigantic task in itself. I think pulling out the shampooer would be much easier, so the old  indoor/outdoor rugs new home will be on the patio where there is a hose for cleaning.

Rugsusa is having a huge spring sale 50-80% off on almost all of their rugs. Unfortunately I just noticed this and lots of the rugs I like in the size I need are sold out. I am not gonna be discouraged though...I am gonna try and make some more time to see what they have left hopefully sometime today, cuz these are super good deals! Here are just a few that I liked..

I really am liking the navy blue ones, maybe they would hide some of the dirt as long as they spill on the navy part and not the white (ha sure I am dreaming). The grey is nice too but I have a feeling I would wear out the shampooer in no time. Does anyone know of maybe a good green product that you can use as sort of a scotch guard for rugs? I think that would help tremendously! Thanks for letting me share peeps, Until next time, have a great one!

POUFING IT MOROCCAN STYLE

I have finally poufed out my desk area! I don't know why I have wanted one of these Moroccan poufs for ever, seriously for the past two years now. I love it! I can put my feet up while I am at my desk or if I am not using my desk I can drag it over to the sofa and plop my feet up on it. When I took it out of the box, I was surprised how heavy and substantial it is.

I got mine from overstock.com, they were having a sale, you know me always wait for the sales girl. I paid $114.00 with free shipping. It is one of the larger sizes too at 22 inches round and 14 inches high, and made of real leather, hand made in Morocco. It does come already filled (stuffed) so that was a bonus too.

There were so many colors to choose from, I decided to go with the white just because I plan on keeping this until it literally falls apart, and white will go with whatever color scheme if I decide to change things up. I do like to change things up a lot, so white it is. If I had the money I would definitely buy a couple more in turquoise (my favorite color) as I  would never get sick of the color and put them in my bedroom at then end of my bed, for putting on shoes, things like that. Maybe in a couple more years..hehe  Any who here are some pictures, Hope You Have A Great Day!!

FRAMED ORANGE SEA FANS

Happy Friday!! I Wanted to share a small update that I made yesterday. I have been admiring sea fans lately, ya know the big beautiful super colorful ones that you put in a frame and hang on the wall. A searching I went for them. I went to eBay and found some of these beauts, but nothing that I could afford at the moment, so I had an idea. I went on the internet and found a super cool picture of one, downloaded it (it was free),and saved it to a flash drive.

I went to my local printing place and had it printed out on just plain ole paper, I got two. It only cost me 80 cents for the two, super cheap!!  They looked pretty good, so in a couple of frames they went. They add a lot of color to this space, which is something I needed I guess, because after I hung them up the wall just came alive. This is a cheap way to add color and fill your wall space. Here are some pictures, sorry my pictures came out horrid, It has been really gloomy here, no sun=bad pictures...

Have A Great Weekend!

FINISHED WINDSOR SMITH RIAD PILLOWS!!

I finally finished, woot, woot! The pillows that is. Gotta give myself a pat on the back, I said I would get these done this week and holy cow I actually did it, early even!! And let me tell ya they look simple and easy to make but they weren't. Thank goodness for a seam ripper. I probably sewed and removed oh about 10 times..hehe. I have never used piping before and am not the avid sewer so it  took me twice as long as it should have. The Voice and Survivor were my motivation to get these done. Two of my favorite shows, had to get to a certain point before I could watch them, a silly little goal I set for myself, but it worked!

If you were wondering where I got my fabric, I found it on eBay super cheap. This fabric can usually only be purchased for the trade (you have to be a designer with a license) and is around $75.00 a yard, I know.. yikes..but, Ebay price for 2.5 yards was $47.00. Huge difference! I have plenty left over after these guys were done too to use on another project. I mixed my high end fabric with cheap thrift store fabric and cording together, can u tell? I cant, gotta love that!

Oh and you see those mirrors above the chairs? I have an itch to paint them, more than likely a nice white. These corners of the room feel dark to me and the black mirrors make it more dreary. I plan on re-painting the walls a grey color I posted about HERE, and I think the mirrors would look a lot better white, what do you think, white or leave them black? Sometimes I get locked in my own head and need some new perspectives on things, that's were you guys come in (I hope). I really do value each and every comment and opinion from my readers. I just wanted to say thank you so very much! Here are the pictures as promised, Hope each and every one of you have a fantastic day!!

PIPING SOME PILLOWS

I was at the thrift store last week and I have a ritual route that I walk in this store, first stop, craft section. Some days you can find really neat stuff and some days find nothing at all. This day I was there I found this, a huge spool of piping for $2.00 . It is a not so pretty green color, but I could totally recover it, so on to find some black fabric. A couple steps away I found some and it was only .50 cents. Ye-haw, don't you just love it when that happens? It doesn't happen too often for me so I had to throw in the ye-haw..

The reason I needed black fabric to cover this piping is because I have had this awesome fabric called Windsor Smith Riad in Jet, that's the official name, I just call it that totally awesome fabric in black and white.. laying around for way too long. I want to make some more pillows (yes more pillows, sorry I have a obsession) for my chairs.

I have never used piping before so I just winged it and recovered the ugly green fabric, now gonna go to YouTube and watch a video and learn how to attach it to my fabric the proper way. I could just wing it again but, I love this fabric too much and don't wanna ruin it. So I'm crossing my fingers I get this last part done before the week is up. I will post the final product.Until next time peeps, have a great day!!

Really I just needed a desk because I have no official "office". Well I have been saving my pennies since that day for the x leg desk that I showed you in that post. I finally got it! I found this desk $100 dollars cheaper on Homeclick.com. They have promo codes, free shipping and no taxes! Totally awesome, right? I must say I do love it, it is the perfect height and the top is super roomy, plenty of room for all my stuff. I officially feel like a grown up sitting at my desk! I will leave you guys with some pictures of her...Have a great Monday Peeps!

If you decide to get this desk, it comes in a super heavy HUGE box so you will need some help.

FROM NAPKIN TO PILLOW

Hey everyone, sorry I missed a post yesterday but this bug that my kiddo and I caught has been a doosy let me tell ya. Ya know that bug you get and its not so bad at first and you think its gonna pass, but then the next day you wake up and you are worse, and the next it is even worse...yep that's the kind we got this time. We are starting to feel a little better today though thank goodness, I get so antsy just lying around all day. I am definitely a busy bee at heart.

I wanted to show you guys a cool little "tip". Making pillows out of napkins. Yep napkins the kind you wipe the food off your face with at the dinner table. (I recommend not using the napkins first to wipe away food, nobody likes a crusty pillow..hehe ) Anyways, I have seen lots and lots of really awesome patterned napkins at just about every store I have shopped in, and making pillows outta of these guys are sooo simple. They are already cut for you and everything! I just got some cheap white fabric and used my napkin as a guide and cut me out a piece of fabric the same size and sew it together. If you cant sew, or don't have a sewing machine, I love to use stitch witchery. Just iron and shabam its done. You can always use two napkins and sew them together too if you don't have any fabric laying around. The cool thing is if you shop around you can always find napkins on clearance, so its a super cheap way to add some color and pattern!

I ordered these napkins from World Market when they went on Clearance. I ordered them in blue and natural color. I liked the blue a lot more so I made a couple of these pillows..

The total cost of these pillows were maybe $3 bucks a piece. I save all of my old pillows, ugly or not, so that I can use them as an insert. No body will ever know whats lurking behind...promise.Well that's it for today peeps see you tomorrow I hope!
